Describe your position in Senior Services and/or Recreation?

As Coordinator of the newly created Active Retirement and Senior Club in Gig Harbor, I have the privilege to build a vibrant gathering place for seniors 60 years and better. As you know, along with this privilege comes the opportunity to meet fabulous seniors, as well as local professionals offering services and living opportunities for seniors.  Since I am a staff of one, I quickly discovered partnering with local retirement residences provided a resourceful way to expand activities and networking opportunities. We are also the site for the Catholic Community Services senior lunch program, which is held three days each week at our location.

How long have you worked with the senior population?

For the last 10 years I was employed at Tacoma Community College coordinating non-credit personal enrichment programs. Seniors were always a significant faction of this program; longing for lifelong learning and creative endeavors, which in turn challenged me to provide a well-rounded selection of classes for their enjoyment.
