PUBLIC COMMENT: STATE PLAN ON AGING AMENDMENT

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Home and Community Living Administration (HCLA) invites the public to review and comment on an amendment to the State Plan on Aging from May 22, 2025, to June 22, 2025.

HCLA is the designated sole state agency to administer federal programs under the Older Americans Act (OAA), a federal law administered by the Administration for Community Living (ACL). The ACL released a Final Rule to update regulations under the OAA which took effect in March of 2024. States must come into compliance with the OAA Final Rule by October 1, 2025.  To come into compliance, HCLA is amending its 2023-2027 State Plan on Aging to address certain updates within the Final Rule.

After the public comment period ends, HCLA will submit the amendment to its State Plan on Aging to the ACL for review and approval.  If approved, this amendment will take effect on October 1, 2025.

If you would like to comment on this amendment to the State Plan on Aging, please submit comments to stateplanonaging@dshs.wa.gov by June 22, 2025.
