"Networking is the key to any organization. The valuable information shared between colleagues is worth more than a nominal membership fee. This organization is generous, fun and provides a wealth of knowledge!"

What is your favorite senior event?
I am a big fan of most of our events at the Center. I love to see the seniors engaged and having a good time. We have a big Log Show Festival in town during the summer that my seniors get very involved in. We participate in the parade and also have a fundraiser in conjunction with the event that is really fun. One of my new favorite activities has been our Annual Turkey Bowling Competition. It is hysterical to watch and is one of the few events that I usually have more male than female participants.

How does your membership to WSASC contribute to your professional life?
My affiliation with WSASC has been so beneficial to my professional life. Because I came to my Center without much experience working with seniors, the networking opportunities and connections that I have made with other Center Directors has been so helpful in helping me to do my job successfully.

What makes your senior/activity center unique?
Since moving back to Washington, spending time with my family has been a huge part of my leisure time. I am still a “newlywed” and have been married for just over two years. My husband and I are very big boaters and spend as much time out on the water as we can when the weather cooperates. We also have season tickets to the Seattle Sounders and spend a lot of time in my in-laws condo downtown.

What is a typical day for you?
I feel our Center is unique in the fact that we are able to serve so many communities. We have participants that come from Buckley, South Prairie, Carbonado, Wilkeson, Enumclaw, Bonney Lake and some from even farther away. Our Center is partially funded by the City of Buckley, by our non-profit Board of Directors and various grants.

How to you enjoy spending your leisure time?
A typical day for me begins by opening up the Center and getting the van on the road and the coffee made. I usually have a running to do list that does or does not get my attention depending on the day. Some days I am running around town for meetings and scheduled events and some days I get to spend the entire day at the Center. One thing I can say is that my days are never dull.
